Description

The application of ancient DNA analysis has had a growing impact on archaeological and bioanthropological literature, opening new lines of research and readdressing old problems. While these analyses have primarily focused on topics related to human population settlement and evolutionary history, their application extends to other issues and includes different species of animals, plants, and microorganisms, indicating their potential for studying the past. Recent archaeology and biological anthropology conferences have included symposia focusing on archaeogenetics to address questions relevant to both disciplines, demonstrating the growing interest in this field. We believe it is an opportune moment for all colleagues and research teams working on related topics to have a space for in-depth discussion on the scope, limitations, and prospects of ancient DNA studies in South America.

We invite you to be part of the First South American Archaeogenetic Workshop!

This prominent event will address the latest advances in the field of ancient DNA in our subcontinent, providing an ideal environment to discuss and delve into this area of knowledge that has become a permanent fixture in anthropology.
