Description

SABA is an international conference on archaeology, organized by students of the archaeological disciplines at Bamberg University, Germany. SABA is a tool for international students-networking and promotes archaeological research beyond borders. It has a long and proud history, for the first SABA took place in 2010. The SABA is organized by a project team  and the “Studentischer Arbeitskreis Archäologie Bamberg” (students work group for archaeology Bamberg).

After successfully hosting SABA 2022 for the 5th time in a row, we are looking forward to welcoming numerous students from different universities to Bamberg again in 2024. This conference has enjoyed great popularity and approval since its inception, both from students from Bamberg and our international guests from many parts of Europe.

As we are hoping for many exciting presentations from different archaeological disciplines again this year, you can find our Call for Papers here on the website.

In addition to the experience of participating in an international conference – by students for students – and the presentation of their own thesis as well as the lively exchange with like-minded people, we offer our guests accommodation, travel allowances and an officially published conference volume summarizing the presentations.
Since the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg is home to the disciplines of medieval and modern archaeology, prehistoric and early historical archaeology, archaeology of the Roman provinces and information processing in geoarchaeology, as well as Islamic art history and archaeology, we look forward to exchanging ideas with students of similar subjects, but also to broadening the spectrum with lectures from other archaeological disciplines.
