Dear congress participants , We look forward to welcoming you to our annual congress in Dresden. The future of radiation oncology care is a tailor-made, technologically advanced treatment that takes into account individual characteristics of the tumor and normal tissue as well as patient-specific factors. Future-oriented radiotherapy includes its targeted use and continuous development: high-precision techniques as well as proven techniques for symptom relief, multimodal approaches taking into account radiogenic immunomodulation and individual tumor biology, networked support services for our patients as well as radiation planning based on artificial intelligence and optimized imaging. The increasing complexity associated with such approaches places high demands on the training of the various professional groups, on their collaboration within radiation oncology treatment teams, and on the collaboration between hospitals and practices. As a team, we must seize the opportunity to further develop ourselves and our discipline in the interests of providing the best possible treatment for our patients. As healthcare providers, we can only advance such developments together with our patients. How do patients weigh the chances of recovery against the risks of treatment-related side effects? How can we best inform patients about this? Can we plan studies and treatments to best accommodate patients' decisions? During the DEGRO Congress 2025, we will highlight the "Radiation Oncology Team" to demonstrate what we can achieve through collaborative working and networked thinking in oncology. We will also pay particular attention to the team spirit when designing the congress program, focusing on the patient perspective as well as the specialized knowledge of the various professions that work together in radiation oncology. Join us for a diverse program featuring current study data, continuing education opportunities, new technologies, and, above all, plenty of interaction. You'll also have the opportunity to visit the Dresden Trade Fair Center, one of Germany's most beautiful convention centers, with a listed building complex and a very special and moving history—which you'll be able to experience during the congress in the form of a small exhibition.
