Transitions and Transformations: Educational Research in Rapidly Changing Contexts

The ACRE planning committee, on behalf of the Faculty of Education, is delighted to invite you to join us at the next Annual Conference for Research in Education conference 'Transitions and Transformations: Educational Research in Rapidly Changing Contexts', taking place at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, Lancashire, UK. We invite practitioners, independent researchers, ECRs and academics from within and beyond ‘Education’ to join us for this two-day event. Education is a sector well known for the pace of its change. This has been brought into even sharper focus recently with the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, the urgency of the climate crisis, ‘culture wars’, Brexit, political polarisation, and policy imperatives. Education has always been central to enabling transitions and nurturing transformation. The focus of this conference is to explore the potential of education to open spaces for innovation and creativity during rapidly changing contexts. We seek to look critically at how pedagogical and curricular transformation, and opportunities for transition between educational phases and contexts, can open spaces of resistance and enable us to reimagine, rethink and reconfigure education's place in our culture, in society and in institutions and communities.
