Last year, the World Health Organization called for countries to increase their investment in women’s health, citing consistent disparities in research, treatment, and experiences at work. Acknowledging this gap, the UK Government recently launched a landmark 10-year Women’s Health Strategy with initiatives to boost workplace support. Women have complex and varying health concerns that impact their professional lives. Conditions such as endometriosis, menopause, and menstrual pain are common, and one in three women across the UK will experience a problem with their reproductive or gynaecological health. Women want their employers to be more understanding about their health. Now is the time for employers to step up workplace support by introducing female-friendly policies and benefits, improving flexibility, and boosting investment in women’s health initiatives. We are delighted to announce that our 2nd annual Women’s Health in the Workplace conference will place in London on 24th September 2025. Bringing together forward-thinking organisations from across the world, we will share UK best practice, international case studies, and fresh perspectives. How can employers provide better workplace support and tackle the specific health challenges faced by women in the workplace? We will explore what is next for the Women’s Health Strategy in the UK while spotlighting key legal changes expected in the Employment Rights Bill, including the requirement for employers to publish a Menopause Action Plan. Upskill line managers to spot signs and symptoms of health conditions at work. With the right support, they will feel more confident to have difficult and sensitive conversations. We will consider the updated guidance from the EHRC (April 2024) on preventing pregnancy and maternity discrimination at work. We will outline the actions that employers must take to support maternal mental health and postpartum health at work. Learn about your legal duty of care for women undergoing fertility treatments such as IVF.
