Dear Colleagues, It is with great pleasure that I invite you to join us at the Advanced Breast Cancer Eighth International Consensus Conference (ABC 8) that will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, on 6-8 November 2025. The ABC Consensus Conference is the major international conference fully dedicated to advanced/metastatic breast cancer (ABC). The conference’s primary goal is the development of international consensus guidelines for the management of ABC. These guidelines are based on the most up-to-date evidence and can be used to guide treatment decision-making in a variety of different health care settings globally, with the necessary adaptations due to differences in healthcare provisions. Throughout the years, these guidelines have been endorsed by several international organizations, and many organizations around the world have been adapting them to their country specific environment, particularly in terms of promoting accessibility to health care services, diagnostics and new therapeutic agents. The ABC Conference is also a unique opportunity for patients living with ABC and patient advocates from around the world to network closely with healthcare professionals dedicated to metastatic breast cancer, the media and other stakeholders. Together, we analyze and discuss the latest scientific updates in the field, identify research priorities and important areas of unmet needs, and define the main recommendations on how to manage this disease. The conference is organized by the ABC Global Alliance, an independent non-profit multi-stakeholder organization dedicated exclusively to improve and extend the lives of women and men living with ABC worldwide, currently with more than 280 members in over 100 countries worldwide. The two words that define the work of the ABC Global Alliance are collaboration and sharing: only by working together and sharing experiences, knowledge and resources, can we truly improve the lives of people living with this disease worldwide, as well as influence policy makers, regulatory and funding bodies to drive the needed changes. ABC 8 will again be held in a hybrid format, allowing us to reconnect face-to-face and experience the dynamic and passionate interactions among attendees, while also providing participants with the opportunity to join virtually if unable to travel. All topics will be presented from the perspective of a multidisciplinary and person-centered approach. This year, the important 2015-2025 Global Decade Report 2.0 will be launched at the conference. Ten years ago, the initial 2005-2015 Global Decade Report was published, and its findings formed the basis for the ABC Global Charter that defined the 10 major goals for the current decade to improve the lives of people living with ABC. This 2nd report will detail what has happened in the field of advanced/metastatic breast cancer in the last decade, advances, challenges, successes and failures. Its findings are again the basis for the new 2025-2035 ABC Global Charter that establishes the new 10 goals for the next decade. As usual, the conference will close with the guidelines’ consensus session. Please join us in Lisbon for the 8th edition of the Advanced Breast Cancer International Consensus Conference (ABC8) and contribute to improve the lives of all patients living with ABC. Fatima Cardoso, MD – Chair of ABC 8 and President of the ABC Global Alliance
